It was a good thing I had eaten before I arrived for this shoot the other day...I was overcome by colorful fresh fruits and vegetables as far as the eye could see, the smell of onions sizzling in a frying pan and so many smiling faces as they began their meal preparations.
Fox Valley Food for Health prepares meals weekly, with the help of volunteers and donations, for those who are recovering from an illness or surgery and can not prepare a healthy meal for themselves. Food for Health uses only organic whole foods, including poultry, dairy & eggs, and they support our local farmers. There is no refined sugar or flour, processed foods or chemical additives in their meals. Not only are they delicious, they also promote and encourage the adaptation of a healthier eating style for the future.
Most of the volunteers are high school-aged and are learning healthy eating habits from the adult mentors and through an educational program from the co-director who is a dietition.
Susan and Mary have established an amazing program which is doing great things in our community. I was so honored to be able to shoot for their promotional materials.
