Cleaning out my closet. Literally.

6 big garbage bags. Full of shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, hats, purses, gloves, coats, shoes...you name it. I felt like I should be on an episode of "Hoarders." It was so liberating and therapuetic to purge all that dusty stuff. My New Year's resolution is "Quality, not quantity." Which will be a challenge, because I like having lots of "stuff."

I have also been trying to take down all my Christmas decorations -- which I HATE doing. It is always so sad when the holidays are over and all we have to look forward to is three more months of winter. Brynn has been insisting that Christmas is not over yet, so she wouldn't let me do it until now. It has looked like Christmas exploded at my house for two weeks now.

I think I have mentioned before that I am an avid US Magazine reader. Yes, I have a subscription and yes, I look forward to it coming each week. I love seeing where the rich and famous are going and what they are wearing. My other favorite part is the new section they started a few months back called something like, "25 random things you didn't know about me." It made me think about what I would say about myself, and it was really hard. I had nothing at first, but then as I would be driving down the road or on the eliptical machine, something random would pop in my head. So here's my list:

1. I am the oldest of 4 kids. I have two sisters and a brother. My youngest sister, Lisa, is adopted and was our first and last foster child. My mom picked her up at the hospital when she was 10 days old. She was an "O'Reilly" from the first time we laid our loving eyes on her. She will be 20 years old next month! Crazy!

2. I never use the same shampoo or conditioner two days in a row. I have 6 sets of each in my shower.

3. I rarely watch TV.

4. I love the smell of coffee but do not drink it regularly. Sometimes I will make it in the morning so my house will smell cozy and then dump it out.

5. I have a terrible singing voice.

6. I have skiied in the Swiss Alps.

7. My husband's nickname in my sorority was Chad "Vanderfox." LOL

8. I have an inappropriate laugh reflex when someone trips.

9. I have been the victim of picking up a "poo dollar."

10. I hate cooking or baking. But I love eating.

11. I consider my biggest accomplishment in my life to be giving birth.

12. I have only had one pet in my life, my black lab, Berkeley.

13. My motto for my life is "Everything in moderation."

14. I was the only person in my graduating class to play three sports for four years.

15. I was in a commercial for a local sportscaster when I lived in Dallas a few years ago.

16. My absolute favorite thing in the world to do is watch live music. I would spend all my money traveling and seeing my favorite bands if Chad would let me.

17. I once told a group of kids on a playground that my name was "Elliott." My dad still calls me that sometimes.

18. The older I get, the more comfortable I am in my own skin.

19. Since having my last child, I now have a chunk of hair on the back of my head that is almost as curly as my sister's hair.

20. Like George Costanza, I do not think sweatpants should be worn in public...but I am guilty of doing it on very few occasions.

21. I used to get told I look like Tara Reid, but now I get that I look like Kelly Ripa (minus the sweet, buff arms - but I am working on it).

22. I was a Spanish major in college.

23. I don't go to church as much as I would like to.

24. I could eat warm french bread with butter for every meal.

25. I worked as a paralegal for 8 years before finding my calling as a photographer. Up until two years ago, I thought I was going to go to law school.

Try to make a list for yourself...it is harder than you think it would be! I had fun doing it and laughing at the randomness. Hope old "Vanderfox" doesn't mind I shared his little nickname ;) haha
